Fire Chief Michael Arnhart
My background in the fire service bagan at an early age. While attending a career day in junior high school, the local fire department came and gave a talk of what the fire service was about. At the age of fourteen, I joined the High Ridge Fire Protection District as a junior firefighter.
After graduating Northwest High School, I started working on my Assocites Degree at Jefferson College. In July of 1976 I became a volunteer fire fighter for the High Ridge Fire Protection District and in September of 1976 I started as a part-time paid fire fighter and the following April I was hired full time as a fire fighter/fire inspector. In May of 1982, I graduated Jefferson College with an Assocates Degree in Fire Science Technology. In July 1994 I graguated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University with a major in Fire Administration.
I remained at High Ridge Fire Protection District serving in various positions including Fire Marshal for twelve years and then in 1990 was promoted to Deputy Chief of Training. In 1992 I became an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Missouri-Columbia Fire and Rescue Training Institute earning Instructor of the year 1997, 1999, 2007, and 2013. I also served as an Instructor for Jefferson College and the Fire Science Program Coordinator for East Central College.
I enjoy serving within the community where I live and work. I have been a member of Rotary International since 2006 serving as past secretary. I have served on the Jefferson County Library Foundation and Northwest Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce as a board member. I currently serve as a board member of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation.
In January of 2005 I was promoted to Fire Chief of High Ridge Fire Protection District wher I served until March of 2017 when I retired after forty career years. On March 16, 2017 I began my new position as Fire Chief of the Antonia Fire Protection District.
I look forward to being a part of the Antonia Fire Protection District. This is an organization of very skilled and dedicated professional personnel from volunteer to full time personnel to the Board of Directors. The sacrifice and dedication of previous members over the history of this organization is the encouragement which keeps me focused on serving the citizens to the best of my ability.
